Primary Care Physician & General Practitioner

As a Family Physician, Dr. Trivedi wants to be your first call for most medical issues for your entire family.

If there is any question, do not hesitate to call. Being a family practitioner, Dr. Trivedi and her staff can determine whether you should come in to the office or whether a direct referral is in order. Most of the times a trip to the office allows an assessment to best determine your health needs

Physical Examinations

Physicals are often offered annually by the various medical plans. Historically, we recommended a physical every three years to individuals under the age of forty, every two years under fifty, and annually thereafter. If a plan offers an annual physical, we recommend you take advantage of the physical. Annual physicals allow a better understanding of the patient as a human being in the context of his work, family, and other stressors. Physicals allow early issues and problems to be discussed, habits to be re-evaluated, and better long-term doctor-patient relationships.

A complete physical takes about thirty minutes and consists of a lot of questions, a physical exam, blood and urine, electrocardiogram (heart evaluations), sometimes chest x-ray, bone density testing, vaccination update, and, if necessary, plans for diagnosing various complaints, and plans for therapeutic intervention. It is always a good idea to come prepared with a list of questions and any information (from the Internet, etc.) that you might be interested in discussing.

A Plan to Better Health!

If there are problems, there should be a diagnostic plan, which may include labs, various tests, or referrals to specialists. There should be a therapeutic plan, which can include natural interventions, nutritional intervention, prescription medication, lifestyle and habit change intervention, etc.

A patient should leave the office with a list of suggestions, including vitamins, nutritional or exercise suggestions, referrals, prescription medications, and a follow-up plan, if necessary The patient should understand any therapeutic intervention, including when and how to take medications what to expect, when to call if there is a problem, and a "fallback position" in case therapy isn't working according to plan. That "fallback position" might be to start a medication which we hand you but tell you not to fill right away, or it might be a referral to a specialist, or it might be to simply call and report back to us.

It should be noted that medical questions that have any urgency at all should be handled by phone, not e-mail. We will respond to e-mail medical questions with a 72-hour turnaround time.

Direct interaction allows a much more accurate intervention, and we would not want to be misled by an Internet miscommunication. In addition, we will not be checking our medical e-mail at all during the day!
